We are laying the foundation for Detroit’s first-ever fashion design hub, a space where creativity, culture, and opportunity collide.
The Fashion Foundation of Detroit is currently in development, and your support today will help bring this vision to life. FFD will be a central resource and destination for apparel creatives equipped with workspaces, advanced technology, mentorship, education, and retail opportunities that have never existed in the city before.
Why Detroit, Why Now?
Detroit has a rich legacy of craftsmanship and design—but no central place for fashion creatives to gather, learn, and build. There are no fabric stores, no accessible sewing education hubs, and no dedicated facilities for local fashion entrepreneurs. FFD is going to change that.
We’re creating a space for designers, tailors, stylists, merchandisers, photographers, models, and makers of all kinds to learn, collaborate, and thrive.
Beyond detroit
While Detroit is our home and heartbeat, our mission stretches far beyond city limits. FFD is building a network of creative hubs across major fashion and cultural centers, including Chicago, Los Angeles, New York City, Atlanta, and more. By connecting talent across these cities, we’re creating a national platform for collaboration, opportunity, and visibility in the fashion industry.

Courses and workshops led by industry experts covering sewing, illustration, textiles, pattern making, design software, and entrepreneurship.

The largest fashion library in the Midwest—housing trend books, fashion magazines, design archives, and sustainability-focused materials.

Spaces for student showcases, public fashion events, art exhibitions, and pop-ups to promote local talent.

Student design competitions, corporate partnerships and annual trips to fashion capitals like NYC, Paris, and Milan to expand their global perspective.

Retail outlet for fabrics, sewing kits, machines, and tools—run by local students and creatives.
